About Us
FAQs:
Are you liberal or conservative?
Both... (and everything in between). We believe the world and the church need both. We want to be a place where each "side" is respected, valued and heard.
Do you believe the bible?
Absolutely. But we also acknowledge that for 2K years there has been disagreement on how to interpret it and apply it. That is why there are 40k denominations in the U.S. alone!
Are you inclusive?
Yes. But lets talk about that. Today the term inclusive normally means you accept (include) one group but shy away from another. We want to welcome all people. Period. No divisions. So when we say inclusive, we mean inclusive. Will this be different? yes. Will this be messy? Yes. But church is supposed to be messy. A messy group of sinners, from all walks of life, trying to follow Jesus.
Our
Story
The church is more divided than ever. So is our nation.
In the early church you had people from hundreds of nations, races, languages and worldviews all following Jesus and worshipping together. That is the way the church should be.
We want to build a community for all people. People on the "left" next to those on the "right". Gay folks next to straight. Blacks next to white. Old next to young. Rich next to poor.
A place where we can worship and grow together. This means we should have:
-
a willingness, at times, to have hard discussion safely and respectfully.
-
respect for where we disagree and, of course, where we agree.
-
a firm commitment to love one another (Jn 13:34-35) regardless of our politics, who we love, where we come from, or what we struggle with.
-
a willingness to learn, grow, and love as Jesus commanded.
-
a realization that we all fall short (Rom. 3:23) and are all sinners. No particular sin is greater than the others (James 2:10) therefore we are a completely “judgement free zone”.
-
A willingness to be a disciple of Jesus and follow him as we are able.
Even though we may not think alike, can we not love alike? -John Wesley.
